Sobremunt
Village
Sobremunt is a small rural municipality in the Lluçanès comarca, in the province of Barcelona, bordering the Osona comarca and separated from the Plana de Vic by the mountain range of the same name. It has 90 inhabitants and lives from rain-fed farming and livestock. The church of Sant Martí, of Romanesque origin though much altered, has been documented since the year 1094, and the hermitage of Santa Llúcia i Santa Quitèria, of medieval origin, since the late 14th century. In the mid-19th century the municipality had 135 recorded inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Diccionario geográfico.

The chapel of Santa Llúcia and Santa Quitèria is documented since the end of the 14th century, although the present building, facing west and surrounded by a stone wall, was erected in 1407 and completely renovated in 1720, a year recorded carved above the doorway alongside an inscription from 1718. It is reached through a porch with an arched vault; it has a tower belfry with a four-sided roof and a preserved bell, and the chapel, much altered, uses a large millstone as an altar. It was restored in 1982 by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Church of Sant Martí de Sobremunt
Monument
Parish church of Sobremunt, in the Barcelona Lluçanès, documented since the year 1094, although the present building, facing west and with a two-sided roof, comes from a complete transformation carried out in 1620 that made use of a good part of the original Romanesque walls. The belfry, square in plan and with three tiers, rises above the entrance doorway, whose carved stone voussoir is dated 1890, the year in which a spacious chapel of the Blessed Sacrament was added; already in 1760 it had been extended and decorated with Baroque elements. On one side a chapel ending in a small apse is attached, and on the other a wide courtyard gives access to the rectory. A group of houses forms around it the rural hamlet of Sobremunt.
