Albalat dels Tarongers
Village
Albalat dels Tarongers is a municipality of El Camp de Morvedre, in the province of Valencia, with 1,574 inhabitants (INE 2025), in the valley of the Palancia river, among the foothills of the Sierra Calderona; until the 1940s it was officially called Albalat de Segart. Its main economic resource is the orange tree, grown in the riverside orchards, and it preserves a Gothic manor house from the 14th and 15th centuries, with a basement of ogival and round arches in limestone, alluded to by the castle on its coat of arms. In its part of the Sierra Calderona, the Mesolithic site of Muntanya del Cavall and the Cova de l'Aigua Amarga have been studied, with Eneolithic cave paintings and remains from the Bronze Age and the Iberian and Roman periods.

Orange growing constitutes the main economic resource of Albalat dels Tarongers and of much of the El Camp de Morvedre district, to the point that oranges appear as a traditional canting element on the municipality's coat of arms, alluding to its own name; they already appeared on a town council seal from 1877, preserved in the National Historical Archive. The official coat of arms was approved in 1999 and the flag in 2015.
Festivities of Albalat dels Tarongers
Activity
The patronal festivities of Albalat dels Tarongers (El Camp de Morvedre, Valencia) are held in mid-August and honour in succession the Virgen de Agosto or de la Asunción, San Roque - the municipality's official patron - and the Divina Pastora on the 15th, 16th and 17th. The celebration continues until 24 August, and during the last week of the month the village's bull-running festivities take place, with cow runs, releases of fighting bulls and the traditional toro embolado.
