What to see and do in Sot de Ferrer

Sot de Ferrer
Village
A municipality in the Alto Palancia comarca, in the province of Castellón, located in the valley of the Palancia river, 49 kilometres from the provincial capital, between the Sierra de Espadán and the Calderona. The place owes its origin to the reconquest of James I in 1245, who granted these lands to don Hurtado de Lihori; the latter built there, as a place of leisure, the Palacio del Señor, an ogival construction from the late 13th century with Gothic additions from the 14th and 15th centuries, around which, favoured by its proximity to the Camino Real to Aragon, the present-day village gradually grew up. It also preserves the hermitage of San Antonio, whose existence is recorded as early as 1681, with a Latin-cross floor plan and a dome carved in Churrigueresque style, and the church of the Immaculate Conception, from the 18th century. It has 492 inhabitants (INE, 2025).
