What to see and do in Alfarràs

Alfarràs
Village
Alfarràs is a town in the north of the Segrià comarca, in the province of Lleida, on the border with the Noguera, situated between the bank of the river Noguera Ribagorçana and the hills of Sas and Serra Llarga, with 2,805 inhabitants (INE 2025). It forms a single municipality with the neighbouring settlement of Andaní. It preserves its castle and the old Torre del Molí, next to the old church of Saint Peter and the old bridge over the river, partly destroyed during the war and now restored. It lives from dry and irrigated farming and livestock, with a growing services sector. It celebrates its summer main festival for Saint Peter, on 29 June, and the winter one for Saint Sebastian, on 20 January, as well as the Ribagorçana peach fair, on the second Sunday of October.
Tower of el Molí d'Alfarràs
Monument
Tower of Arab origin located at the entrance to the gorge of the Noguera Ribagorçana, in the municipal area of Alfarràs (Segrià), next to the Pinyana canal, of which the so-called Molí del Marquès forms part. It is a single-nave building with lower openings for the passage of water and a pool carved into the rock next to the mill. Already documented in 1153 as a manorial flour mill, in 1678 it was bought back by the first marquis of Alfarràs, Pere de Ribes, who expanded the complex with a fulling mill. It had nine millstones, an iron lever to raise them and a winch to load sacks, as well as sheds for grain and animals. Its use was compulsory for the vassals of the Barony, who came from villages of la Franja such as Tamarite de Litera or Albelda.
Castle of Alfarràs
Monument
Vanished castle of Alfarràs (Segrià, Lleida), of medieval origin, of which no remains are known today and whose exact location is uncertain. It has been suggested that it stood on a small hill to the northwest of the town centre, where water tanks now stand, although no archaeological or documentary evidence confirms this hypothesis. It is declared bien cultural de interés nacional (Catalonia's highest level of heritage protection).
