Ivars de Noguera
Village
Ivars de Noguera is a municipality in the north-west of the Noguera comarca, in the province of Lérida, on the border with the Franja de Ponent, whose territory was conquered by Count Ermengol VI of Urgell in 1107; in 1116, in the midst of colonisation, it was under the lordship of Ramon Berenguer d'Àger, of the lineage of Arnau Mir de Tost. From 1414 it was part of the barony, later marquisate, of Alfarràs. In 1964 it incorporated the southern part of the former municipality of Tragó de Noguera, including the depopulated hamlet of Boix, which had been submerged by the Santa Anna reservoir. Its economy is based on dry and irrigated farming and livestock raising. It preserves the church of the Concepción de María y San Sebastián, the village's patron saint, alluded to by the arrows on its coat of arms. It has 317 inhabitants (2025).
