Madridanos
Village
Madridanos is a village of 461 inhabitants in the Zamora comarca of Tierra del Vino, with the hamlet of Bamba, where the archaeological site of the castro del Viso is preserved, with origins in the Iron Age. According to tradition, it was resettled in the 10th century by people who came from Madrid with the troops of Ramiro II of León, after that city was taken by the León monarch. In its municipal area, the Zamora Provincial Council has been running an organic farming project since 2012, with centres for the conservation of the province's native breeds, such as alistano-sanabrés and sayagués cattle and the zamorano-leonés donkey, continuing one it had already maintained since 1992 on the La Aldehuela estate.
