El Perdigón
Village
El Perdigón is a municipality of 673 inhabitants formed by the towns of El Perdigón, San Marcial and Tardobispo, the first of them the municipal seat, in the province of Zamora. It is known above all for its numerous underground wine cellars, some of them today open to the public as bars or restaurants. Resettled in the Middle Ages within the Kingdom of León, it remained during the early modern period part of the Zamora Partido del Vino. The town was closely linked to the figure of the Viscount of Garcigrande, Pedro López de Peralta, who founded in 1520 the chapel it still preserves in the parish church of San Félix; the church also holds the tomb of the precentor Pedro López de Peralta and preserves seventeen Gothic panels.
