Corrales del Vino
Village
Corrales del Vino is a Zamora town of 930 inhabitants which until 2010 was called simply Corrales, when it added to its name that of the Tierra del Vino comarca, of which it was the traditional capital although today the neighbouring Morales del Vino surpasses it in population. Its town centre, with neoclassical ashlar houses, arose as an annex of the neighbouring Fuentelcarnero, already documented in the early 13th century, and preserves underground wine cellars with arcades of carved stone. The church of la Magdalena, in sandstone ashlar with three unequal naves, has three apses with Gothic vaults and preserves reused Romanesque ashlar blocks, especially in the apse, as well as a 12th-century Romanesque stone Virgin. On the outskirts stands the 18th-century hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias.
