Vallesa de la Guareña
Village
Vallesa de la Guareña is a municipality that brings together the villages of Vallesa and Olmo de la Guareña, in the Zamora comarca of La Guareña, a plateau at an altitude of between 800 and 820 metres crossed by the Guareña river, amid fields of dryland and irrigated cereal crops and vineyards. Located at the south-eastern edge of the province of Zamora, its municipal area forms a tripoint with the provinces of Valladolid and Salamanca, and it lies closer to Madrid, 183 kilometres away, than to the western edge of Zamora province. It has 67 inhabitants and retains its old bridge and the church of San Juan Bautista, while that of San Andrés Apóstol, in Olmo, is declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection).
