Santibáñez de Tera
Village
Santibáñez de Tera is a municipality in the comarca of Benavente y Los Valles, in the province of Zamora, situated on the right bank of the Tera river, 24 kilometres from Benavente, and includes the hamlet of Sitrama de Tera. Its place name refers to San Juan, patron of the locality, celebrated every 24 June; the demonym is santibañés. The parish church, perhaps the village's most striking building, stands out for its triangular bell-gable and holds a Baroque altarpiece with Solomonic columns and a 15th-century tombstone. Next to the river lies the recreational area known as La Playa. It has 351 inhabitants.
