Granucillo
Village
Granucillo is a municipality in the comarca of Benavente y Los Valles, in the province of Zamora, with 105 inhabitants, which includes, besides the eponymous town, the settlements of Cunquilla and Grijalba de Vidriales. The dolmens of Las Peñezuelas and San Adrián attest to settlement since the Bronze Age; already in the Middle Ages it was part of the Kingdom of León, and in the early modern period it passed to the Lands of the Count of Benavente, within the Merindad de Vidriales, whose counts built here a castle and an old palace, now in ruins. It also preserves the chapel of San Adrián, to whom its festivities are dedicated on 16 June.
