Micereces de Tera
Village
Micereces de Tera is a municipality in the province of Zamora, in the comarca of Benavente y Los Valles, situated at 719 metres above sea level amid the fertile land irrigated by the river Tera, which makes it a sought-after spot for summer tourism; it also includes the settlements of Abraveses de Tera and Aguilar de Tera. Its name may derive from a movement of Mozarab settlers from Méizara, in the Leonese Páramo. It has 404 inhabitants, compared with 168 in the mid-19th century. Its church of San Mamed was built between the 12th and 13th centuries, and at Abraveses stand the church of Saint James the Apostle and the sanctuary of Our Lady of la Encina.
