What to see and do in Fuentesecas

Fuentesecas
Village
Fuentesecas is a hamlet in the Alfoz de Toro area, in Zamora province, 14 kilometres from Toro and 32 from the provincial capital; it covers 14.6 km² of cereal land dotted with rounded hills where hardly a tree is to be seen, and its town centre, built in rammed-earth (tapial) architecture, sits on one of those hills. During the Middle Ages it belonged to the Kingdom of León and, already in the Early Modern period, to the province of Toro, until the 1833 provincial reform placed it within Zamora. It now has 43 inhabitants (INE 2025). Its church, of large size, occupies a raised area from which the surrounding land can be seen. It is the birthplace of Pablo Morillo y Morillo (1775-1837), a soldier and sailor who fought at Trafalgar and took part in the wars of independence of Venezuela and Colombia.
