Tudela de Duero
Village
Tudela de Duero is a town of around 8,900 inhabitants situated on a bend of the Duero, 15 km from Valladolid, known as the joyful tear of the Duero or the oasis of Castile for its abundant vegetation, and famous for its asparagus and its wineries. In the area of La Mambla, remains of a Neolithic settlement have been found, with pottery decorated by hand with fingernail incisions, as well as pre-Roman pottery and Roman terra sigillata. Its church of the Asunción was built between 1515 and 1555, with a tower commissioned from Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón and an altarpiece façade designed by Juan de Escalante in 1561.
