Traspinedo
Village
Traspinedo is a town of around 1,300 inhabitants in the comarca of Tierra de Pinares, province of Valladolid, on the banks of the Duero, which forms its northern boundary; the village stands at 742 metres above sea level. It belonged in the 14th century to the Infantazgo de Valladolid, although it changed seigneury several times. It preserves a typical arcaded street on wooden posts and a house whose coat of arms bears the attributes of the pilgrim to Santiago: cord, staff, gourd and scallop shell. Its church of San Martín is Gothic from the late 15th century, with two naves and a star-ribbed vault; in 1752 the architect Matías Machuca reformed the tower and roof. The festivities of Santa Isabel are held on 2 July, with a procession and bull runs, and those of San Martín on 11 November.
