What to see and do in San Llorente

San Llorente
Village
San Llorente, also called San Llorente del Valle, is the highest of the five villages of the Valle del Cuco, in the comarca of Campo de Peñafiel (Valladolid), at 889 metres above sea level and with 93 inhabitants. Its 16th-century Gothic church, of ashlar and three naves, dominates every view and holds panels of the 17th-century Palencia school. The municipal land combines three landscapes: the cereal-growing páramo, dotted with majanos; the valley, today largely abandoned after centuries of farming on its slopes; and the monte, of small cereal plots among holm oaks. It is crossed by the historic Camino Real de Burgos, an old droving route for the transhumance of livestock between Burgos and Peñafiel, which arrives from Curiel, where it is known as Cantones.
