What to see and do in Corrales de Duero

Corrales de Duero
Village
Corrales de Duero is a village of 104 inhabitants in Valladolid province, in the comarca of Campo de Peñafiel, set in the heart of the Valle del Cuco, narrow and richly vegetated, among holm oaks and Pyrenean oaks, surrounded by high páramos. Oral tradition holds it was founded by shepherds who came from Curiel, and numerous sheepfolds and shepherds' huts are still preserved, such as those of Valdemoral and San Bartolomé, along with a path running through its underground wine cellars. Its surroundings preserve terraces of traditional vineyard, locally called navesanas, and the 13-kilometre circular path of the Ruta de las Fuentes, which passes springs and a deserted medieval settlement on the way to neighbouring San Llorente. Its cuisine is noted for suckling lamb and lechazo roasted in the traditional way.
