What to see and do in Santa Marta del Cerro

Santa Marta del Cerro
Village
Santa Marta del Cerro is a hamlet of 45 inhabitants of the Community of Town and Land of Sepúlveda, in the former Ochavo de Prádena, founded as part of its medieval resettlement. Until the 1916 reform the village was known simply as Santa Marta. Its church, of Romanesque origin and a single nave, preserves two portals, one facing east and the other south; the latter displays three archivolts resting on jambs and capitals with plant motifs, while the apse is decorated with rustic corbels showing birds, serpents and figures of the period, as well as a window with carved capitals. The original building was altered with the addition of a tower, a sacristy and the south entrance, which possibly took the place of an old arcaded gallery, now closed.
