Riaza
Village
Riaza is a town of about 2,128 inhabitants nestled between the northern slope of the Ayllón massif and the Castilian plateau, 73 km from the Segovian provincial capital. Its municipal area includes ten more hamlets, most of them independent until 1979, among them Madriguera, El Muyo and Villacorta, spread between a mountainous exclave in the sierra de Ayllón and the town itself, which stands at 1,187 m of altitude. Its Plaza Mayor, circular and arcaded, with a sand floor, hosts the traditional bull runs (encierros) and bullfights in September.
