What to see and do in Fresno de Cantespino

Fresno de Cantespino
Village
Fresno de Cantespino is a town in Segovia of about 290 inhabitants, head of its own Community of Town and Land, situated on flat ground but at a high altitude owing to its proximity to the sierra de Ayllón, beside the Riaza river and at the foot of the Castle hill. Its name recalls, according to toponymic studies, an old frontier and battle line between Castile and León, a memory reinforced by the important battle fought near Fresno in 1110. Its houses are of reddish adobe, and the slender tower of its church of San Nicolás can be picked out from kilometres away. Its cuisine is noted for stewed quail in the fresnense style.
