What to see and do in Villar de Samaniego

Villar de Samaniego
Village
Villar de Samaniego is a hamlet in the Vitigudino district, in the La Ramajería sub-district, founded in the repopulation that the king of León, Ferdinand II, carried out in the area in the 12th century; it was called Villar de Ciervos until 1910, when the name was changed because of the confusion it caused with Villar de Ciervo. The municipality is divided into two settlements, Villar de Samaniego and Robledo Hermoso, with about 79 inhabitants between them. Its parish church is dedicated to Santo Toribio, an uncommon patronage, and the village keeps the traditional architecture in local granite stone.
