Trabanca
Village
Trabanca is a municipality in the province of Salamanca, in the La Ramajería sub-district, within the Vitigudino district, 73 km from the capital. Because of its position at a crossroads, it is one of the main entry points to the Arribes del Duero natural area, whose granite canyons occupy the north of its territory while the rest forms a peneplain of granites and metamorphic rocks; the Tormes borders the municipality to the north, at the boundary with the province of Zamora. Its name is said to come from an old dam for irrigating meadows. A hamlet of about 177 inhabitants, it has turned its folk heritage into an attraction: a stone forge more than two hundred years old and a ten-thousand-square-metre theme park with goat pens, wash houses, pigsties and counterweighted well-sweeps.
