What to see and do in Rágama

Rágama
Village
Rágama is a municipality of about 195 inhabitants in the comarca of the Tierra de Peñaranda, in the province of Salamanca, crossed by the Regamón river, a tributary of the Trabancos, and run through from south to north by the Cañada Real Soriana. To the north lies the Lavajares lagoon, a wetland where great bustards and waterfowl nest. The municipality depended on the Community of Villa and Tierra de Arévalo from the repopulation of the 11th-12th centuries until 1833, when it passed to the province of Salamanca. Its centre, formed by traditional two-storey Mudéjar mansions around the church of El Salvador, preserves within it a Romanesque-Mudéjar apse and a polychrome ceiling. The conquistador Francisco de Carvajal (1464-1548), who was active in New Spain and Peru, was born in Rágama.

The wayside cross of El Humilladero
