What to see and do in Rasueros

Rasueros
Village
Rasueros is a municipality in the Ávila comarca of La Moraña, with about 150 inhabitants divided between the settlement of Rasueros and that of San Cristóbal de Trabancos, on the road between Medina del Campo and Peñaranda de Bracamonte. Its 17th-century church raises a 13th-century Mudéjar tower over the foundations of the old castle of Count Rasura, of which vestiges can still be seen in the parapet by the river; it holds a Romanesque altarpiece brought from neighbouring Astudillo, depopulated by the plague in the Middle Ages, as well as valuable carvings and a baroque altarpiece. An 18th-century hermitage preserves the carving of a Virgen Dolorosa that legend links to the Virgen de las Angustias by Felipe del Corral. Its main feast, dedicated to the Virgen de los Dolores, is celebrated on 22 August.
Steppe bird watching between Rasueros and Madrigal
Activity
The farm tracks that link the two municipal districts make up one of the province's best-known birdwatching itineraries, within the Tierra de Campiñas SPA. The great bustard is the star species and can be watched without getting out of the vehicle.
