Galinduste
Village
Galinduste is a municipality in the Tierra de Alba, in the province of Salamanca, with around 400 inhabitants, made up besides the main village of Gutiérrez Velasco Álvarez and Gutiérrez Velasco Delgado and the deserted hamlets of Andarromero and Martín Pérez. Its name is owed to a medieval settler, Galindo, a Vasconic personal name widespread in the early Middle Ages among Navarrese, Aragonese and Riojan people, joined to the Latin genitive of Iustus, just; it is recorded as Galind Iuste as early as 1265, when the place belonged to the cuarto de Cantalberque of the jurisdiction of Alba de Tormes, in the Kingdom of León, and it took its present form in the 15th century. In the mid-19th century it had 605 inhabitants, according to Pascual Madoz's Diccionario, quite a few more than today.
