Peromingo
Village
Peromingo is a municipality of about 120 inhabitants in the Sierra de Béjar, in the province of Salamanca, which was part of the Castilian council of Ávila until, in 1209, Alfonso VIII created the Community of Town and Land of Béjar, which it joined. When Béjar passed to the Zúñiga family in 1396 and lost its vote in the Cortes in 1425, thereafter depending on Salamanca, Peromingo remained attached to the Kingdom of León, a status it kept through the territorial divisions of 1785 and 1833. In the mid-19th century it had 293 inhabitants, more than double what it has today, a reflection of the depopulation the comarca has undergone over the last century. The village has a church under the invocation of Santo Domingo.
The church of Santo Domingo
Monument
The parish church of Santo Domingo is the main building of this municipality of 8.79 square kilometres, which for centuries was annexed to the church of Ledrada and which today does not reach one hundred and thirty inhabitants.
