What to see and do in Valverde de Valdelacasa

Valverde de Valdelacasa
Village
Valverde de Valdelacasa is a municipality in the Salmantine comarca of the Sierra de Béjar, with 57 inhabitants, one of the few in the province whose population has remained stable in recent decades, with barely any decline, although the ratio of men to women has changed. It was a border village: after the death of Alfonso VII of León it passed to the Castilian council of Ávila, and the line between the kingdoms of León and Castile followed here the Vía de la Plata, which coincides with today's calle Real. It was called simply Valverde when it entered the Community of Town and Land of Béjar in 1209, from which it broke away in 1425 as regards the vote in the Cortes, after Béjar passed into the hands of the Zúñiga family, thereafter coming under Salamanca within the Kingdom of León.
The Vía de la Plata turned into a street
Curiosity
The boundary between the kingdoms of León and Castile was fixed on the Vía de la Plata, which as it passes through the village coincides with the present Calle Real: the residents of one pavement and those of the other belonged for centuries to different kingdoms.
