What to see and do in Sepulcro-Hilario

Sepulcro-Hilario
Village
Sepulcro-Hilario is a hamlet in the province of Salamanca, in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo and the sub-comarca of the Campo de Yeltes, within the plain of the Campo Charro, with 153 inhabitants and an area of nearly 40 km². It owes its name to the discovery on the site of the sepulchre of Bishop Hilario, a memory that preserved its old coat of arms until the heraldic reform of 1998. It was a lordship in the late Middle Ages, and its palace was ordered destroyed by Ferdinand the Catholic, like those of other nobles who had supported Juana la Beltraneja against Isabella. The village, agricultural and pastoral, sits on a seam of red clay that has traditionally been used to make tiles and bricks, and which in the Las Barrizas area has formed deep ravines. Its patron saint is San Blas, and it also celebrates Corpus Christi.
