Morasverdes
Village
Morasverdes is a municipality in the province of Salamanca, in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo and the sub-comarca of Campo de Yeltes, within the plain of the Campo Charro, about 78 km southwest of the provincial capital. Its origin dates back to the medieval resettlement by the kings of León, and it was placed within the diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo after its creation by Fernando II of León in the 12th century; settlers who arrived from León, Zamora, Galicia, Ávila and Segovia shaped the customs of the place. A village of about 230 inhabitants, it arose around the flour mills that dotted the river of its name. In 1845 Madoz's dictionary recorded it under a double name, «Moras Verdes» or «Salvatierra de Francia», and described its hundred houses and its good climate.
