Dios le Guarde
Village
Dios le Guarde is a hamlet in the sub-comarca of the Campo de Yeltes, in the comarca of Ciudad Rodrigo, province of Salamanca, with about 116 inhabitants and steep streets by the Morasverdes river, a tributary of the Yeltes. Its name, which draws the attention of all who pass through, appears in medieval documentation as Dioslogarde, when the locality was placed within the Diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo after its creation by Ferdinand II of León in the 12th century. It has a wake house, a pelota court, a football pitch, a bullring, a cultural center and a church. It celebrates its main festival, El Cristo, on September 14, with an opening mass in the church and, on the last day, a popular meal of paella and meat prepared by volunteer neighbors at the picnic area on the outskirts.
