Mozárbez
Village
Mozárbez is a municipality in the Campo de Salamanca, or Campo Charro, district, 13 kilometres from the provincial capital, through which runs the Zurguén stream, one of the sources of the Tormes; it has around 510 inhabitants. It was founded during the medieval resettlement process by the kings of León, within the quarter of Peña del Rey of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, and was then called Moçaraves. On the Utrera slope, according to the archaeologist César Morán, there was an ancient Iberian hillfort and, later, a hermitage from which came a Romanesque Virgin kept until the mid-20th century in the parish church. Its town hall, with a clock tower, was completed in 1903, and on 3 February, for Saint Blaise, necklaces are handed out.
