Terradillos
Village
Terradillos is a municipality of 3,300 inhabitants in the Salamancan Tierra de Alba, whose municipal area brings together several rural settlements besides the housing developments where most of the population lives today: about 85% reside in El Encinar, which has become a dormitory town of Salamanca. The municipality's undulating relief forms a network of small streams that flow into the Tormes, a river that here runs between the levels of Alba de Tormes and Santa Marta; the climate, somewhat more sheltered from the southwest winds than that of the provincial capital, and the area's poor soils, between slate and granite, have traditionally limited agricultural yields. From its industrial past remains the old Cerámica de la Maza, which worked the subsoil's clays.
