Monterrubio de la Sierra
Village
Monterrubio de la Sierra is a municipality in Salamanca province, in the Campo de Salamanca or Campo Charro district, made up of eight places, among them Cortos de Sacedón, Hernáncobo, La Torre Zapata and Segovia de Sacedón, which together total 150 inhabitants across 35.31 km². Its founding dates back to the resettlement carried out by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, when it was called Monte Ruvio and was placed within the quarter of Peña del Rey of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, within the Kingdom of León. In the 19th century it was described both by Sebastián Miñano, in 1826, and by Pascual Madoz, in 1845, with 168 and 160 inhabitants respectively. With the provincial reorganisation of 1833 it became part of Salamanca province, within the Región Leonesa.
