Pedrosillo de los Aires
Village
Pedrosillo de los Aires is a municipality in the Salamancan sub-comarca of Salvatierra, within the Guijuelo comarca, which divides around 312 inhabitants across 70 square kilometres and nine settlements, four of them now deserted: Herreros de Salvatierra, Las Cuestas, Valdejerruz and Villar de Salvatierra. Of the inhabited settlements, Castillejo has more residents than the town of Pedrosillo itself, followed by Amatos de Salvatierra and the two Dueñas hamlets. The municipality was born with the resettlement carried out in the early 13th century by Alfonso IX of León in the Alfoz de Salvatierra, when it was called simply "Pedrosillo", the same as its dependent hamlet of Amatos, founded in the same process. In the mid-19th century it had 483 inhabitants, almost double today's population, which has kept declining in recent decades.
