What to see and do in Berrocal de Huebra

Berrocal de Huebra
Village
Berrocal de Huebra, with 75 inhabitants, forms part of the Campo de Salamanca district, in its La Huebra subdistrict, and brings together the settlements of Berrocal, Coca de Huebra, Coquilla de Huebra and Domingo Señor, besides the depopulated hamlets of Gallinero de Huebra, Torre de Velayos and Villar del Profeta. All these places already existed in the Middle Ages, when they were founded during the resettlement by the kings of León, placed within the archpriesthood of the Valdobla of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, except Domingo Señor, which belonged to the quarter of Baños. By the mid-19th century the municipality had 78 inhabitants.
Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza
Monument
Half a league south of the village stands this hermitage to which the residents of the surrounding settlements came in pilgrimage, in a municipal district of slate soil, holm oak woods and three productive valleys among dry farmland.
