Barbalos
Village
Barbalos is a municipality of 70 inhabitants made up of five settlements — Alcazarén, Barbalos, Corral de Garcíñigo, Hondura de Huebra and Moraleja de Huebra —, in the Campo de Salamanca district, La Huebra subdistrict. Its founding dates back to the resettlement by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, and it was placed within the archpriesthood of the Valdobla, within the jurisdiction of Salamanca and the Kingdom of León. Its hamlets of Hondura de Huebra and Corral de Garcíñigo already existed then under the names Endura and El Corral; Hondura lay within the Salamancan quarter of Peña del Rey. With the creation of the provinces in 1833 it was placed within Salamanca, within the Región Leonesa. By the mid-19th century it had 86 inhabitants, more than today.
