Barbadillo
Village
Barbadillo, with about 391 inhabitants, forms part of the Campo de Salamanca district, 23 km from the provincial capital, to which it is linked by the Autovía de Castilla (A-62). It comprises the town of Castrejón and the depopulated hamlets of Carrascalino, Gejo de Doña Mencía, Muñovela and Valverde de Valmuza. It appears in medieval documents as Barvadiello, within the cuarto de Baños of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, in the Kingdom of León; with the creation of the provinces in 1833 it was placed within Salamanca. Its terrain is predominantly flat, with isolated rises such as the Rompio hill and the Peñitas. The parish church is dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Rosario, and the village also has the Parque de la Era.
