Fuentes de Nava
Village
Fuentes de Nava is a market town in Palencia of around 580 inhabitants, in the Tierra de Campos comarca, overlooking the La Nava lagoon, included in the Natura 2000 Network, and whose economy today combines agriculture, livestock farming and tourism. It was called Fuentes de Don Bermudo until the 1916 reform of municipal names; in the 1842 census it had as many as 2,372 residents. Its church of San Pedro received in 1583 the work on a chapel financed by the dean of Charcas, in Peru, a native of the town, under the master stonemason Juan de la Cuesta, and it also preserves the church of Santa María, both with guided visits since 2016. The Canal de Castilla runs through the municipality, and an 18th-century manor house holds the comarca's Centre for Environmental Studies.
