Mazuecos de Valdeginate
Village
Mazuecos de Valdeginate is a hamlet in the province of Palencia, in the Tierra de Campos comarca, with around seventy-five inhabitants at 785 metres above sea level, compared with the 593 residents it had in 1842. Its municipal area is included in the La Nava-Campos Norte special protection area for birds, within the Natura 2000 Network. The municipality was called simply Mazuecos until 1916, the year it adopted its current name. Its church of San Miguel was built around 1530. On 2 June a solemn pilgrimage sets out for San Juan de Ortega, carried along the Camino del Cristo to the hermitage of the Santo Cristo de Arenillas together with San Isidro and San Antonio de Padua; on 15 August, the feast of la Asunción, the village's cultural week is celebrated.
