Rabanera del Pinar
Village
Rabanera del Pinar is a Burgos municipality of 94 inhabitants documented at the end of the 11th century as Ravaneira, a name that during the Early Modern period evolved into Rabanera de la Sierra until in the mid-19th century it was fixed as Rabanera del Pinar. Located in the comarcas of La Demanda y Pinares, 76 kilometers from Burgos, it stands at 1,080 meters in a small mountainous and wooded valley through which runs the Rabanera river, which separates its two districts, Zorrera —where the church and the town hall are— and Rendajal. Its sandstone settlement earned it in 2001 the Provincial Prize for the Conservation of Urban Heritage of the Provincial Council of Burgos. It preserves the 1746 town hall, of classical design with a market hall, and celebrates San Juan Degollado on 29 August with the paloteo and cintilla dances.
