Santa Cruz de la Salceda
Village
Santa Cruz de la Salceda is a municipality in the Ribera del Duero comarca, in the province of Burgos, 13 kilometres from Aranda de Duero, situated at 881 metres and bathed by the Nava stream, which runs parallel to the Riaza river before flowing into the Duero at Aranda itself. In the mid-19th century the town had as many as 422 residents, almost triple the 148 inhabitants it has today. In the village's former schools the Museo de los Aromas was opened in 2012, the first in Spain dedicated to scents, a unique interactive space in Europe where one can recognize the aromas of wine, perfumes, coffee or flowers, with the collaboration of the Spanish National Research Council.
