Fuentelcésped
Village
Fuentelcésped is a town of 290 inhabitants at the heart of the Burgos Ribera del Duero, 10 kilometres from Aranda de Duero. The village is dominated by the Baroque church of San Miguel Arcángel, built between 1653 and 1663 at the residents' own expense over a medieval temple that had become too small: with a hall-church plan and three naves, it holds a 1753 Baroque organ made in imitation of the one at El Escorial, a chapel of the Dolorosa with an altarpiece of 1744, and thirteen stained-glass windows. The tower, from the 17th century, preserves six bells dated between 1716 and 1980. Its festival of the Virgin of Nava, with dancers wielding sticks and castanets to the sound of the dulzaina (a folk oboe), is declared of National Tourist Interest.
