Las Ventas de Retamosa
Village
Las Ventas de Retamosa is a municipality in the comarca of La Sagra, in the province of Toledo, with 4206 inhabitants (INE 2025). Its name comes from the inns built in the 16th century by the hill of Cabeza de Retamosa, today the hill of Buenavista, at the crossing of the Cañada Real Segoviana and the Camino Real de Guadalupe. The place was founded around 1542, while Gonzalo Chacón Fajardo was lord of Casarrubios del Monte, by Antón Pérez and Francisco de Magadan Fernández, and it obtained the title of town from Philip V in 1742, which exempted it from the jurisdiction of Casarrubios. It preserves the church of San Pedro Advíncula, co-patron together with the Virgen del Carmen, whose festivities are the main ones on the local calendar, and the Camino Real de Guadalupe, now a hiking trail, runs through its municipal area.

Monument
The parish church of San Pedro Advíncula de Las Ventas de Retamosa is dedicated to the saint who gives the municipality its name, whose feast day is celebrated on 1 August, and to its co-patron saint, the Virgen del Carmen, in whose honor the main festivities are held between 7 and 17 July. The church's existence was already recorded in Pascual Madoz's geographical dictionary, published in 1849, confirming its long history as the town's parish church.

Nature
Ancient pilgrimage route to the monastery of Guadalupe that crosses the municipal area and is today walked as a hiking trail. As it passes through Las Ventas de Retamosa, the Camino Real de Madrid a Guadalupe lies between the towns of Casarrubios del Monte and Santa Cruz del Retamar. It is precisely here that a historic variant begins, the Camino Real de Madrid por la Cañada Real, which follows an old droving route of the Mesta through other villages before rejoining the main route at La Mata.
