What to see and do in Valpalmas

Valpalmas
Village
Valpalmas is a municipality of the province of Zaragoza (Aragon), in the comarca of the Cinco Villas, judicial district of Ejea de los Caballeros, crossed from north to south by the Barluenga ravine, which ends up flowing into the river Arba. With about 122 inhabitants, it preserves the parish church of San Hipólito, from the 18th century, and several manor houses. The village maintains an interpretation centre dedicated to Santiago Ramón y Cajal, opened in 2003, who lived here as a young man with his parents between 1856 and 1860; near the village lie the Aguarales, a fragile geological formation shaped by water through a process known as piping, also called a fairy chimney. Its main festivities are held on 13 August in honour of San Hipólito.
