Erla
Village
Erla is a municipality in the Cinco Villas region, in the province of Zaragoza, with 374 inhabitants (INE 2025), which also includes the settlement of Paúles. Its municipal area, crossed by the Arba de Biel river, lives off farming and livestock, as well as its proximity to Ejea de los Caballeros. It preserves the church of Santa María la Mayor in the town centre, the Torre del Señorío, the 15th-century hermitage of la Corona, and the castles of Paúles, Santia and los Luna. Its main festival, from 9 to 11 May, honours San Gregorio Ostiense. Erla also maintains a meat workshop that has revived old recipes of the Cinco Villas, such as butifarra blanca and a slow-cured longaniza.
