What to see and do in Moscardón

Moscardón
Village
Moscardón is a small municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in Teruel, with 62 inhabitants, set on a defensive hill between limestone ravines and pine-forested slopes, with origins that may date to the late 12th century, during the Christian resettlement of the highlands by people from Navarre; the ravine acted as a natural defence, and the place was linked to the Andador tower of Albarracín. Its surroundings, made up of Jurassic and Cretaceous limestone canyons, are rich in springs and pine forests on the slopes of the Morezuela and Santa Ana muelas. Its church of San Pedro Apóstol stands on a spur overlooking the Castellar ravine: the present building dates from the mid-18th century, with a tower probably from the late 16th century, and it houses Gothic altarpieces and carvings from the 15th to the 18th centuries.
