Terriente
Village
Terriente is a municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in Teruel, situated at about 1,443 metres above sea level, with 198 inhabitants, made up of the main settlement and the hamlet of El Villarejo. In 1257, by privilege of James I, it became part of the sesma of Jabaloyas within the Comunidad de Santa María de Albarracín, which was directly dependent on the king and which, after the 1837 dissolution decree, is the only one to have remained alive, with its seat today in Tramacastilla. In the mid-19th century it had 797 inhabitants, according to the dictionary of Pascual Madoz. It preserves the town hall, from the 16th century and of popular Albarracín-style architecture, the parish church of El Salvador, also from the 16th century, and the hermitages of Villarejo and del Rosario, from the 17th and 18th centuries.
