Torres de Albarracín
Village
Torres de Albarracín is a small municipality in the Sierra de Albarracín, in Teruel, set on the slope of a hill overlooking the Guadalaviar valley, at about 1,240 m above sea level, with 187 inhabitants over 28.20 km². By privilege of James I, given at Teruel in 1257, it became part of the sesma of Frías of the Comunidad de Santa María de Albarracín, directly dependent on the king; this regime, the only one to survive the 1837 dissolution decree, now has its seat in Tramacastilla. Until 1916 the municipality was called simply Torres, the year it added the epithet "de Albarracín". Its most notable building is the church of San Miguel. It has hiking routes and is part of the Camino del Cid. It celebrates its festival in honour of San Miguel in late September.
