What to see and do in El Vallecillo

El Vallecillo
Village
El Vallecillo is a municipality in the comarca of the Sierra de Albarracín, in the province of Teruel, a typical mountain settlement of stone houses on a steep slope beside the río Cabriel, at about 1,421 metres above sea level. It has 40 inhabitants (INE 2025), compared with 352 in the mid-19th century. Near the village are the springs of the río Cabriel and the Molino de San Pedro waterfall. On 21 June 1257, by privilege of James I, the place became part of the sesma of Frías, within the Comunidad de Santa María de Albarracín, a regime directly dependent on the king which, with its seat today in Tramacastilla, is the only one to have survived after the 1837 dissolution decree. It preserves the church of la Santísima Trinidad, from the 18th century, and the hermitage and farmhouse of San Pedro.
