What to see and do in Monteagudo del Castillo

Monteagudo del Castillo
Village
Monteagudo del Castillo is a small municipality in the province of Teruel, located at the northernmost end of the comarca of Comunidad de Teruel, bordering the Sierra de Gúdar and the Maestrazgo. It has 43 inhabitants. It was crown land from the Middle Ages until the provincial division of 1833, included in the community of villages of Teruel within the sesma of Campo de Monteagudo; until the 1916 reform of municipal names it was called simply Monteagudo. In the village the parish church of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles is preserved. The municipal area is surrounded by high-altitude pine forests that yield saffron milk caps and king oyster mushrooms in autumn, and morels in spring.

Food and drink
The high-altitude pine forests give in autumn rebollones, the local name for the saffron milk cap, as well as king trumpet mushrooms and morels in spring. They are prepared grilled with garlic and parsley or accompanying the meats of the slaughter.
